New! BAA Communities Trust / Worldwide Volunteering Bursary Scheme 2011
WorldWide Volunteering (WWV) and the BAA Communities Trust have launched the 2011 Boost! bursary scheme, which aims to help local young people to volunteer. These bursaries will enable young people, aged between 16 and 19, who attend schools within 25 miles of Heathrow, Stansted or Southampton airports, to undertake voluntary projects by contributing to the costs of food, accommodation, transport and essential project equipment.
Voluntary projects in the UK and overseas will be considered for bursaries. However, preference will be given to projects of an environmental and skill-building nature near both the young people’s community and one of the three airports. Projects should be undertaken by groups of at least three young people and be designed by them.
Applicants will need to write a 500 word proposal, outlining what sort of voluntary work they intend to do and how the target community will benefit from the project.
For further information just go to or email us at boostqueries@wwv.org.uk.
Online applications can be made from and the deadline for applications is midnight on 6th March 2011. Postal applications will not be accepted. Entries will be judged by a committee comprising representatives from BAA Communities Trust and WWV and the winners of the bursaries will be notified by Friday 6th May 2011.
