Congratulations to Addlestone & Ottershaw Good Neighbours on their 30 year Anniversary!
Addlestone and Ottershaw Good Neighbours celebrated 30 years of service to the community at their AGM on 13th September at King's Church, Addlestone.
The scheme is led by Ella Gadd along with a team of regular volunteers who provide an invaluable service to the community. Most of the jobs undertaken by the scheme are to drive people to hospital appointments which is quite different to the kind of work that they did when the scheme started. Christine Mitchell who started the Addlestone and Ottershaw Good Neighbours scheme in 1980 explained to those present at the AGM how she had been asked to create the organisation at the request of the local churches and how it had developed. Most of the jobs in the early days were requests for help with shopping or simply a request for someone to come and have a cup of tea and a chat!
Congratulations to Addlestone and Ottershaw Good Neighbours and many thanks to all who volunteer with them for the sterling work you do for the community!
If anyone would like to join this organisation as a volunteer please contact the RAVS office on 1932 571122.
